Tutorials: Tuesday through Thursday before and after school.

Objective:  This class is designed to prepare students to take the Spanish AP 4. Students will build on the knowledge acquired in Spanish 1,2 and practice their skills by studying a variety of themes.  Students will be required to speak Spanish daily and read and write at intermediate level.  This class will be taught primarily in Spanish.

Grading:  Since this class is PAP your expectations will be higher than that of Spanish 1 and 2.  Our system of grading will also be more difficult as more emphasis will be placed on your overall knowledge.   Our learning will be extensive and will be determined by several factors.  The following will be the breakdown of the class grade.

              50 % Tests/Projects

50 % Daily grades/ quizzes.

Late work.  This is a PAP class and all work should be turned in on time.  However, I will allow you to turn in work one day late for a maximum of a 70.  After you receive a zero it will not be changed.  You have one day to get in any work.  Your work is considered late if not turned in at the beginning of class.

If you are failing or borderline:  At the 3 week progress reports I will notify parents of those students that are failing or on the verge of failing.  If you fail a test you will be allowed to retake it, However you must fill out a slip and come to tutorials in order to retake a test.

Attendance:  Daily attendance is vital.  In the event that a student misses class they will have 2 days for every absence to make up missed work.  If a student misses a test or quiz they must see me to set up a time to take it before or after school within one week or it will be entered into the grade book as a zero.  If you are absent on the day a major project is due you will need to make sure that it is turned in the next day you come back.  Please check the calendar when you come back and get with me to get any assignments that you may have missed.

Tardies:  A student is considered Tardy if they are not in the door by the time the bell stops ringing.  You will be sent to the Tardy Center to get a pass if you are late.

Cell Phones:  Students may not have their phones out without the express permission of the teacher.

Consequences for Unauthorized Device Use

  1. 1st offense: Device held in office for the remainder of the day
  2. 2nd offense: Device held in office for parent pickup at the end of the day
  3. 3rd offense: Device held for 24 hours for parent pickup
  4. Multiple offenses: 1-3 days ISS, possible loss of privilege
  5. Refusal to Surrender: 1-3 days suspension

Classroom Expectations:

  1. Treat everyone with respect.  Do not talk when someone else is talking and always respect all ideas and speakers.
  2. Do not keep me from teaching or others from learning.
  3. Be prepared for class and bring all supplies and homework to class every day.
  4. No cheating of any kind, you can get a better grade guessing than taking a zero for cheating.

Consequences:  If you violate any rules you will be subject to the following.

1st offense- Warning and a call home or a half slip

2nd offense- D- hall/ call home (if you skip a d-hall you will be written up)

3rd offense- Office referral and call home

Violations of a school rule (outlined in your handbook) that supersedes classroom rules will result in an immediate referral. (example: fighting, profanity)
