5.2 Set Up Your Canvas Parent Account on a Computer

Sign up for your Parent Observer Account on a Computer

1. Go to this URL (you may want to bookmark this link): https://birdville.instructure.com/login/canvas

Click "Parent of a Canvas User, Click Here for an Account"

2. Enter Your Information

Enter Signup Details Enter the following information:
  1. Enter your name in the Your Name field [1].
  2. Enter your email in the Your Email field [2]
  3. Create a password and enter it in the Password field [3]
  4. Re-enter your created password in the Re-enter Password field [4]
  5. Enter the paring code you retrieved from your student's account [5]
  6. Agree to the terms of use by clicking the You agree to the terms of use checkbox [6]
  7. Click the Start Participating button [7]

 

exclamation mark icon.png Be sure to write down the email and password you used to create your account in the steps above. This will be your username and password to log into Birdville Canvas Parent from now on

 

 

3. Congratulations! Now you are ready to begin using Parent Observer account from Your Computer. 

exclamation mark icon.png BELOW ARE THE STEPS FOR HOW YOU WILL ACCESS BISD PARENT CANVAS FROM YOUR COMPUTER. THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM HOW YOUR STUDENT ACCESSES THEIR CANVAS COURSE. STUDENTS WILL GO TO THE BISD PORTAL. PARENTS WILL GO TO THE BIRDVILLE PARENT CANVAS LOGIN PAGE ON THE INTERNET. HERE ARE THE STEPS TO LOG INTO YOUR PARENT CANVAS:

2. Log in to your parent Canvas account with the email and password you created above to observe your student's class and communicate with the teacher.

Note: Your student's courses will not be visible until the teacher publishes the course 

  Begin Observing

 

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
  • If another parent or guardian would like to also be a Parent Observer in the same student's Canvas course, that parent must get a new pairing code for that student. Simply repeat the "Get a Pairing Code" instructions on the previous page.
  • Pairing codes can only be generated from the web version of Canvas. Pairing codes cannot be generated from the Canvas mobile apps.
