Warmup: Death in the Rainforest-2

This video shows the dangerous interactions among people in the rainforest.

Paulo Guajajara is a 'Guardian of the Forest'.  These are men who have decided to take the law into their own hands to protect the rainforest from illegal mining and logging.  More than 1,700 people have died in the last twenty years over disagreements about the rainforest.

Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil, believes that the land should NOT be protected.  Instead, he thinks the lands currently protected from development should be opened to outsiders.  He wants this in order to expand Brazil's economy.

Locals believe that the President's position on land development is encouraging illegal mining and logging.

On the other side, missionaries and conservationists (people who want to save the rainforest) have been killed by natives with spears and arrows.  Authorities suspect that these natives are trying to protect their land.
