1.1 Who We Are: Part 3

Items Needed:

  • Students COMPLETED Who We Are Worksheets from the previous class (distribute to correct student)
  • Posterboard, glue/ tape, scissors,
  • Photos of students’ items: can be a Picture from a magazine, Google Image or Self Drawing

Set the Stage:

Remind students of how they shared their items (last two lessons), and let them know they will be creating a collage today.

  • Remember how we shared items with each other as a way of getting to know one another better?
  • Today, we’re going to make a collage that contains photos or drawings, or descriptions of all the items we shared.
  • When we’re finished making the collage, we’ll hang it in our classroom as a reminder of what we have learned about one another.

Activity:

Instruct students to work cooperatively to create the collage.

Assign students a specific task:

  • Gather supplies(poster board, glue, scissors, Who We Are worksheets, and photos of students’ items- can be a picture, google image or drawing).
  • Trim the images.
  • Arrange and glue the images on the poster board.
  • Hang the collage in the classroom.

Discuss the Activity:

  • What do you think of our classroom collage?
  • Why do you think it is important to put all of our photos together in one collage? What does this say about our classroom?
  • Why would we refer to this collage throughout the school year?
