Why Canvas

Canvas is used by dozens of ISDs in DFW and in hundreds of school districts around the country. Additionally, it is the preferred Learning Management System (LMS) for hundreds of colleges and universities including many in Texas. Canvas allows the Kinder and the High School teacher to adapt the course design to match students' needs. 

 

 

Canvas Benefits to Students

Given the challenges and stresses facing our students during this time, the district has a responsibility to ensure that students are not required to navigate between a variety of systems to access their learning. Canvas allows learning experiences to be centralized within one system.  Canvas works on multiple devices - Chromebooks, PCs, Macs, and more. Additionally, Canvas has a parent app so that parents can support and monitor student's learning, which leads to increased STUDENT SUCCESS!

 

Canvas Benefits to Parents

Canvas empowers parents and guardians to co-enroll with their students in Canvas courses as Parent Observers. This allows the parent to access course content, the student's assignments and submissions, along with teacher communication and feedback. Parents can also use the Canvas Parent app to monitor their students' progress. Additionally, parents benefit when their student is utilizing the same learning system and communications in all of their courses.
