Overview of the Canvas Learning Management System

 

What is a Learning Management System?

• The main objective of a Learning Management System (LMS) is typically to host and track online learning for students.
• An LMS allows you to manage content/instructional resources,  assess learning, track and store learning progress data, and communicate with (and enable communication amongst) users (students, parents, and teachers).
• An LMS is a one-stop-shop for students to access assignments, take exams, collaborate with peers, communicate with teachers, and more. 
• It's a virtual classroom.

 

VERY IMPORTANT! Even though Canvas has a grade book of its own, all "official student grades" will continue to be housed in the Focus Gradebook.

Always go to Focus Gradebook to check grades.
